The Northern Michigan Chorale returns to the stage at the Center on June 11 & 12 to entertain your family with uplifting Broadway selections. The program includes songs from Mary Poppins, South Pacific, the Sound of Music, Porgy and Bess, plus inspiring choral arrangements of the Wind Beneath My Wings, Over the Rainbow, and many more favorites.
The Chorale was founded in 1982 with sixty voices under the direction of Don Large. It is a non-auditioned, non-profit group with singers from all over Northern Michigan, rehearsing in Petoskey. They perform concerts throughout the year under the direction of Julie Pierpont, who began working with the group in 1997.
The Crooked Tree Arts Center presented the Chorale with their 2007 Eddi Award for “Best Arts and Cultural Organization for the benefit of the citizens of Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.” Each year the Chorale awards Vocal Music Scholarships to all ages of area residents who want to improve their singing. The Chorale also pays the class tuition for NCMC students joining the group. Your donations to our Scholarship Fund are greatly appreciated.
Please visit NMChorale.org for more information about singing with us or getting a music scholarship for yourself or a family member desiring to take voice lessons or participate in a summer music camp.
