Youth Orchestra and Wind Symphony

Experience the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra and Wind Symphony in a shared concert exploring the color, energy, and expressive range of the symphonic tradition.

Led by Alex Amsel, the Orchestra opens with the dramatic sweep of Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino, followed by the haunting beauty of Sibelius’ Valse Triste, and the vibrant Spanish character of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol. Under the direction of Chris Moorhouse, the Wind Symphony brings its own palette of sound to the program with Gala Flagello’s bold Bravado, John Barnes Chance’s evocative Incantation and Dance, Frank Ticheli’s moving setting of Amazing Grace, and Katahj Copley’s vibrant In Living Color.

From sweeping melodies and rhythmic fire to moments of reflection and brilliant bursts of color, Symphonic Horizons brings strings and winds together in a celebration of the many ways an ensemble can tell a story through sound.
