A musical tribute and intimate celebration of John Denver’s life and career. From growing up in a military family to his rise on the 1960s folk scene and superstardom in the 1970s and beyond, Almost Heaven: John Denver’s America brings his story to life through timeless hits including “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Rocky Mountain High,” “Annie’s Song,” and “Sunshine on My Shoulders.”

Echoing the beauty of the Rocky Mountains to communities across the country, Denver’s music celebrates nature, love, and a shared spirit of connection. From “Take Me Home, Country Roads” to “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” this uplifting production honors the life and legacy of an American musical icon whose down-to-earth acoustic sound continues to resonate.

Pre-Show Talk with the Creative Team

Arrive early and go behind the scenes of Almost Heaven: John Denver’s America. Before each performance, members of the creative team will host a 20-minute in-theater Q&A, offering patrons a closer look at the making of the production, its music, and the stories that shape it.

Ricky Hill (2).jpg — **Ricky Hill:** A Muskegon native, Ricky Hill has called Petoskey home since 2019. He spent several years with The Young Americans, and he has performed across the U.S. and world, including the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and South Africa. He has worked with several pop and Broadway stars, including Barry Manilow and Susan Egan.

Christian Wilder: After graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Christian toured the country for many years as the keyboard player for the Michigan Rattlers.

Lucy Hall: NYC-based, recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon’s extremely competitive BFA musical theatre program, appeared at GLCFA in Music of the Night, recently played Alana in Dear Evan Hansen at Coachella Valley Rep

Derrick Truby: Returns to Northern Michigan after wowing GLCFA audiences with his powerful portrayal of Jesus in 2022's GODSPELL. He has performed at some of the nation's top regional theaters, including Ford's Theatre, Signature Theatre, the Folger Theatre, and more.

Lucy Rossi: From Petoskey, has performed all over the world with Disney Cruise Line and on the tour of Blippi! The Musical.
