Great Lakes Youth Choirs of Voices Without Borders Presents A TIME TO SHINE Featuring An Evening of Harmony with The Great Lakes Men’s Chorus, MonTAJJ, and CHONK performing an array of Barbershop Quartet music in a variety of music styles including doo-wop, swing, gospel, patriotic, Disney and even country!

Most recently The Great Lakes Men’s barbershop chorus won the right to represent the state of Michigan at the International Chorus finals in Las Vegas.  At the contest, they achieved the highest chorus score ever recorded in the state’s history. This evening we have a small ensemble from the chorus including section leaders, board members, and director Jamie Carey. MonTAJJ was formed in the fall of 2018 and quickly won the Michigan state title of Senior Barbershop Quartet Champions and in 2020 they qualified for the International Seniors quartet finals. CHONK is a talented barbershop quartet hailing from the mid-Michigan area. CHONK won the bush league contest in 2019 and went on to receive the novice champ award in the pioneer district (Michigan and parts of Canada).
