Annual Fund 2020

SINCE JULY, the Center has presented impactful, energetic, and significant live living room style events to limited capacity and socially distanced audiences. Among them were esteemed artists such as Broadway’s Brian Stokes Mitchell, mandolinist Chris Thile, and western swing band Asleep at the Wheel. All of these events marked the first performance for the artists in front of a live audience since March. Their appreciation of safely performing again matched our enthusiasm to welcome our audience back into the venue. Together we were able to provide shared, memorable experiences and, while distanced, a bit of normalcy.

THE CENTER EMBRACED NEW CHALLENGES in order to continue serving Northern Michigan with world-class events and impactful educational opportunities. We have been encouraged by the delightful comments from artists and patrons. With careful planning and creative solutions…

  • The Dorothy Gerber Strings Program transitioned to a virtual format, teaching over 100 violin, viola, cello and bass lessons per week.
  • Strict safety protocols were implemented ensuring a responsible environment.
  • The Center worked with artists to present two performances per event, allowing more audience members to experience the arts.

GENEROUS DONATIONS have helped the Center continue to provide greater access to the performing arts in Northern Michigan.

UNANTICIPATED EXPENSES inherent to responsibly presenting exceptional events means we need your help to finish 2020 strong and be in the best position to kick off 2021 without missing a beat.

Your contribution to the Annual Fund provides you with exclusive opportunities to engage with the arts, from Donor Lounge access, to priority ticket ordering, to conversations with visiting artists and leaders.
