Summer 2019 Internship Opportunities
With a mission to inspire, entertain, and educate with year-round, world-class programming across all genres – music, theater, dance, intellectual dialogue, and education – the Great Lakes Center for the Arts serves as a cultural and social hub for northern Michigan.
The 2019 Summer Season will include a gala event and nearly 20 performances by numerous renowned artists. The 527-seat, $30 million venue opened in July 2018 and continues to offer exceptional programming throughout the year. The Center is a 501(c)3 with up to six paid internship positions available for summer 2019 in the departments below. All Great Lakes Center for the Arts interns will work alongside the entire GLCFA team. Interns will gain valuable experience in a variety of areas in arts management.
Work on grants, donor cultivation and relations, staffing the Donor Lounge, and special donor events, as well as GLCFA events.
Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Center including clerical, administrative, data entry, reception, and general office functions, as well as GLCFA events.
Assist with promotion, social media, press releases and communication, graphic design, content creation, website updates, and photography, as well as GLCFA events.
Assist with organizing transportation, housing, artist contract requests, logistics, and events. Work behind the scenes and up in the booth to assist with event production.
Front of House
Assist with tasks related to the building, security, scheduling, venue set up, concessions, valet, and other house related tasks, as well as GLCFA events (cross-trained with Box Office).
Work in Salesforce Patron Manager to manage ticket sales, exchanges, printing, volunteer coordination, and other related tasks as assigned, as well as GLCFA events (cross-trained with Front of House).
- Dates are flexible but generally will run May through August.
- Stipends will be $12 per hour, plus time and a half for overtime, up to 55 hours per week.
- Applications will be considered beginning immediately until all positions are filled.
- Interns must have a car at their disposal for the duration.
