With the changing leaves, cooler evenings and shorter days, autumn is a time to reflect, and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us in Northern Michigan. Looking back at this summer, we are ever grateful and humbled by your support. The staff, leadership and Board of Directors at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts would like to take a moment and reflect on the busy and successful summer of 2017, which would not have been possible without you.

June saw the beginning of a wonderful partnership with Fifth Third Bank when they sponsored an event at the Walloon Lake Country Club. Friends and neighbors gathered to discuss the Importance of the Arts in Thriving Communities with Founding Artistic Director Michael M. Kaiser and Kurt Wietzke, Past President of Crooked Tree Arts Center.

In July supporters and friends joined together to celebrate the announcement of the 2018 Premiere Summer Season programming at an elegant afternoon event on the shores of Lake Michigan. Thank you to all who attended –  we sincerely appreciate your continued support.

August welcomed three new members to our talented and dedicated Board of Directors. Bringing their expertise and passion to the service of the community are Orlene Hawks, Irene Rogerson and Kurt Wietzke. We are thankful for their support, and look forward to their leadership as board members.

On September 1 Founding Circle Supporters came together to let their inner artist have some fun! At the Markers and Mimosas event, guests signed the walls and beams of the Center, making their mark in history. Subscriptions went on sale in September as well, with remarkable success! We would not have been able to offer accessible pricing to a wide-range of performances right here in Northern Michigan without you. Thank you.

These achievements and many more are made possible thanks to the generosity of a strong and growing family of supporters who believe in the power of the arts to transform lives.

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”

– William Arthur Ward
