Celebrate the bridge-building joy of music with the Little Traverse Youth Choir, in concert at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts Community Open House on July 8!
GLCFA’S Community Open House will welcome community members to explore the new state-of-the-art facility while enjoying wonderful music by the region’s most talented ensembles. The Little Traverse Youth Choir will be featured at the free event along with the Crooked Tree Arts Center Up North Vocal Institute.
“The Center’s grand opening is a momentous event for the performing arts in Northern Michigan. The Community Open House will be an opportunity for everyone to explore the new state-of-the-art venue while enjoying premiere ensembles featuring area youth,” commented Heather Russell, GLCFA Education Director.
Voices Without Borders (VWB), the sponsoring organization of the Little Traverse Youth Choir (LTYC), was founded to bring young people from around the world together in celebration of song, dance, and different cultures. Each summer, VWB presents theChildren of the World in Harmony Festival, which has involved over 1000 children from 15 countries in 120 performances throughout Northern Michigan.
LTYC singers from across Northern Michigan have toured in Michigan, New York, and Canada, and have most recently accepted an invitation to perform in Ireland at the Dublin Choral Festival this June. The 20-member choir will also perform as part of the American Celebration of Music in Scotland, with concerts in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Upon their return, LTYC is excited to share their song at the GLCFA Community Open House on July 8, 2018!
Tickets for individual performances at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts go on sale for the public in March.
