As part of its implementation plans, the GLCFA is growing its inaugural board carefully with a goal of 15-20 members by grand opening in 2018 and 25-30 members over the next five years that will by then represent diversity with respect to geography, performing and cultural arts interests, skillsets and various constituencies in the regional community and throughout Michigan.
The following are bios for the Executive Committee of the Board and the Committee Chairs.
Bill Clements Governance Chair
Tyler, Texas and Bay Harbor
Bill Clements, his wife, Gigi, and their three children, Cate, Gill and Perry, summer in Bay Harbor. Bill is a private investor and a seventh-generation Texan. He serves as the President of the Bill and Gigi Clements Foundation, which partners with other foundations and philanthropists to improve communities, particularly through educational opportunities. Bill sits on the Board at Christ Episcopal Church, All Saints Episcopal School of Tyler, The Boys and Girls Club of East Texas, PATH – a Tyler non-profit, and Clearpath, Conservative Clean Energy. Bill is a member of True North Golf Club, Bay Harbor Golf Club and Willow Brook Country Club of Tyler.
Carole Cobb Secretary, Executive Committee, Development & Events Chair
Kansas City and Bay Harbor
With busy corporate careers taking Carole and her husband, Bill, from Dallas to California and now Kansas City, summers in Bay Harbor have become a touchstone for the Cobbs and their three sons Will, Zach and Jason. Carole has heavily invested her time in the growth of Bay Harbor. In additional to her service on the GLCFA Executive Committee, Carole has served for many years on the Bay Harbor Foundation Board of Trustees, utilized her career experience in marketing to drive efforts to create the Bay Harbor Marketing Alliance, and is a past Commodore of Bay Harbor Yacht Club.
David Crouse Executive Committee, Education & Programming Chair
David Crouse is a multiple Emmy Award winning independent film producer. His documentaries have aired on The Discovery Channel, A&E, and PBS and include Positive Thinking: The Norman Vincent Peale Story, The Fall of Newt Gingrich, Worth Fighting For: People Protecting the Great Lakes, The Reagan Presidency, C.S. Lewis – The Magic Never Ends, and Lost in Middle America. David has the distinction of being the first producer ever granted interviews with five former U. S. Presidents for a single documentary (Presidents Reagan, Ford, Carter, Nixon and Bush).
David is co-founder of the month-long C.S. Lewis Festival that takes place every fall in Petoskey, is past president of the Board of Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council, past board member of McLaren Northern Michigan Regional Hospital Foundation, and past board member of Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago. David, wife Teresa, and his family have been long-time supporters of Crooked Tree Arts Center and Bay View. Teresa has tirelessly served for many years as CTAC’s co-chair of D’Art for Art. David and Teresa reside on Walloon Lake with their two children Bill and Alexandra.
Dave Hamilton Building Committee Chair
While he is not a GLCFA Board Member, Dave has agreed to bring his extensive construction industry experience to the role of Building Committee Chair. Dave is the retired CEO and President of The George W. Auch Company in Pontiac. Now called Auch Construction it is one of the leading construction contracting firms in Southeastern Michigan.
Dave is a member of the Ferris State University Construction Hall of Fame and served on numerous boards and panels, which included the Detroit-area Laborers Health and Welfare Fund, Oakland Community College Foundation Board, Eastern Michigan University College of Technology Construction Management Accreditation Committee, and served as director and juror for the Construction Innovation Forum.
Dave, along with his wife Cheryl, lives year-round primarily at his Peninsula home, walking five miles a day in Bay Harbor through sunshine, rain, sleet and snow.
David V. Johnson Founding Chair and Executive Committee
David V. Johnson, Chairman of Victor International Corporation, is internationally recognized as a successful entrepreneur and luxury community developer. Under his guidance, Victor International has grown to include world-class resort communities and properties. David has significant involvement with the Urban Land Institute, as a member of the Recreational Development Council and as a former trustee. He also sits on the Board of Governors for the ULI Foundation and is a member of the ULI Detroit Steering Committee and formerly served the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a State Waterways Commissioner. David is also a former member of The Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).
David and Bay Harbor were awarded the prestigious Award of Excellence by the Urban Land Institute for excellence in design, planning and development, has been hailed as Environmentalist of the Year by Michigan Chamber of Commerce and the 2006 Developer of the Year by the Building Industry Association. David and wife Pamela are parents of Samara Johnson and Jennifer Merriman, and proud grandparents of Stella Merriman.
Kathy Oswald Board Chair, Executive Committee
Bay Harbor and Bloomfield Hills
For the past nine years, Kathy has served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of the Henry Ford Health System. During a 28-year tenure with Chrysler, Kathy became Chrysler’s top female executive before retiring in 2000. At the time of her retirement Kathy was Chrysler’s Chief Administrative Officer responsible for Human Resources, Labor Relations, Community Relations, Public Relations and Communications.
Kathy is very active in community affairs and currently serves on boards for Inforum and the American Society of Employers. Kathy also serves on the Board of Pure Eco Environmental Solutions. She recently joined the board of A. Schulman, Inc. Kathy holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Personnel Management from Central Michigan University. She has also completed Duke University’s Advanced Management Program as well as the University of Michigan’s Advanced Human Resources Executive Program.
She and husband Larry have two sons, Paul and Ryan, and three grandchildren.
Annette Pocica Treasurer, Executive Committee, and Finance Chair
Annette with her husband, Bob, have recently built a beautiful home complete with an exceptional wine cellar on Lake Charlevoix after having lived in San Francisco, Washington DC and New York.
Annette’s career included serving as GM of The New Republic, a Journal of Politics and the Arts, VP Finance at the Public Broadcasting Service, VP Finance at Innova Communications and in finance with the federal government. Annette is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a BBA and she has also completed the Executive International Business Program at Georgetown University. In 2016 Annette chaired the Petoskey Rotary Diamonds & Denim event to benefit the Great Lakes Center for the Arts.
